Introduction to the Standard
Standard:
The teacher uses understanding of individual differences and diverse cultures and communities to ensure inclusive learning environments that allow each learner to reach his/her full potential.
Indicator:
(F) Accesses resources, supports, and specialized assistance and services to meet particular learning differences or needs.
Interpretation:
Each student deserves to have an education. They all come from different backgrounds that can affect their learning. If that means they need certain accommodations or modifications then they deserve them and I will make sure that it happens.
Introduction to the Artifact:
Learning Event 1 is from the unit on Animal Farm that I have created where Kayla is my focus student.
Rationale:
Within my first learning event I have a focus student that I kept in mind when I was planning the event. Her name is Kayla and from her 504 I learned she has visual impairments so I have different accommodations within my learning event that allow her to do the same activities as the rest of the class. There are different resources I have included within the lesson plan to accommodate for Kaylas disability that would allow her to reach her full potential. One example is having an online version of the book which has access to a text-to-speech application in order to accommodate for her particular need. I will also be reading to the class. This also accommodates for Kaylas particular needs and doesn't single her out.
Artifact:
Here are copies of my first learning event, along with a copy of Kayla's student profile.
If you scroll down below you will find Kaylas profile.
